Frequently Asked Questions.
General
-
With House of Pet, you get a customizable luxury experience for your pets. By choosing to have them stay at one of our luxury home locations, they’ll really be able to relax, unwind, and be treated to the best care that they deserve.
The fact that we aren’t a Brick and Mortar facility allows us to provide them with the warmth and comfort of being in a real home like environment. That means they won’t be alone without supervision as there won’t be something like 30 dogs to 4 or 5 people. So unlike those places we don’t need to charge for all the little extras like pictures, videos, feeding them, or any other charges that should come with pet care. They won’t be crated (unless thats something you request), so they’ll get to roam around and play as they please.
-
The fact that we really take the time to from lasting bonds of love and friendship with our members, human and animal alike.
-
Absolutely not! We think this is an egregious and unethical thing to charge for, especially in regards to charging to feed your pets the food you provide.
-
Dogs, Cats, Guinea Pigs, Rabbits, Hamsters, Chinchillas, Hedgehogs, most other rodents, most birds, some snakes (please call for more details), some other reptiles (please call for more details) and Fish.
-
At the moment we do not offer overnight boarding Cats. We do however offer In Home Services for cats, such as Transportation Services, Care Visits and House Sitting.
While we understand that some cats may behave differently, and that it’s not uncommon to find various facilities which offer cat boarding, its not something we recommend. Generally as is their nature cats whether indoor or indoor/outdoor are very territorial animals, and bringing them out of their home environment into a strange new place, is very stressful on them and they usually will hide, not eat for a few days, and have a higher chance of being more destructive.
-
Yes, we do offer Private Overnight Boarding and Daycare for dogs who would do better in an individual care experience.
Private Boarding and Daycare is subject to availability and will incur an additional rate.
-
We tailor our experience for dogs with separation anxieties a bit differently, and by understanding your dogs level of separation anxiety, we can do our best to ensure a calm, happy, and safe experience.
We have relaxation areas/rooms specifically for them.
Every room is lightly misted with a calming spray formulated especially for dogs.
We use calming dog/pet certified-safe aroma therapy diffusers throughout the house and in the relaxation areas/rooms.
Cozy Pet Canopy’s and Tipi’s to offer a respite from stimulation.
We provide them with a temperature safe heating pad which is placed atop, under, or in the dog beds we use made for those purposes. They are constantly monitored while these are in use.
We also have temperature safe heating pads/blankets available for their dog beds or blankets should you bring their own bed (we highly recommend this). They are constantly monitored while these are in use.
Constellation projectors are used during the day and at night in the relaxation area/rooms
Gentle music scientifically proven to ease anxiety plays.
Anxiety Vests
Constant love, affection, and care
Dog safe calming treats, ingestible topicals (if requested by owners)
Stimulation toys and puzzles
High value treats or simulation treats (provided only if the dogs are not food or treat aggressive)
For dogs with separation anxiety, we highly recommend you bring their own bed, toys, food/water dishes, and something from home that smells like you.
-
Yes, we do offer services for dogs who will need a Private Boarding or Daycare experience.
-
Typically we prefer our clients to schedule bookings at least 3 days in advance.
However last minute booking requests are considered depending on availability, and you must call or text us to have your requests approved.
For last minute booking requests where your dog would need private Daycare or Overnight Boarding, you may incur an additional Convenience Fee depending on availability.
For last minute same day booking requests, if there is availability you will incur an additional Convenience Fee.
-
If you are going out of town for a few days we recommend you booking Overnight Boarding or House Sitting.
-
Yes, we do offer our services for pets from the same family!
-
No! We don’t mind boarding pets that are unfixed. We make sure to keep fixed and unfixed dogs separated if they’re going to be participating in Group Daycare or Overnight Boarding.
However if you have a female dog who is in heat, unfortunately at this time we are unable to provide Hosting Services (Daycare or Overnight Boarding) during that period. If you still need services, we recommend that you make use of our Traveling Services (House Sitting or Care Visits) during that time.
-
We like to make sure that we have everything on hand to ensure your pets are comfortable, safe, happy, and well entertained. However there are some things you will need to bring and should consider bringing as having familiar items from home can help soothe any anxieties your pets may experience.
Required:
Food (depending on their meal schedule or if they’ll be staying for a Full Day)
Collar with ID tags
Leash or Leash + Harness
Poop Bags
Optional / Recommended:
Water and/or Food bowl(s)
Toys

Please bring any food or medication your pets will be needing during their stay.
While we have all the necessary supplies on hand to ensure your pets have the time of their lives while in our care, you are more than welcome to bring a few of their comforts from home.
We recommend you bring some toys, treats, and a blanket or bed for them to use during their stay. This is particularly useful, comforting, and soothing for pets who have cases of Separation Anxiety.
If your pet does have separation anxiety it also helps to bring along something that smells like you. Whether that be a blanket, sweatshirt, pillow, scarf, toy, or whatever you like.

If your pets need to go to the vet for any non-emergency reasons, such as a routine check up, to have stitches removed, or anything else that is not an emergency, you must let us know ahead of time. And please note that this is something for which we are more than willing and happy to do, however it is considered a Transportation Service and will incur an additional charge.
-
If your pets need to go to the vet due to an emergency which happens mid-booking, we will waste no time in rushing them to your vet of choice or to the nearest Emergency Veterinary Hospital or Clinic. While on the way we will make every attempt to contact you and then we will contact your named emergency contact if you are unreachable.
If the reason for a vet visit isn’t dire, we will notify you first of the issues, before any actions are taken. If you are unable to be reached we will attempt to contact your named emergency contact before any actions are taken.

In most cases this, and without incurring an additional fee, it’s no problem if you need to extend your booking. You may incur an additional fee depending on how last minute the extension is needed, the length of time on the extension, if the booking is for Private Boarding or Daycare, and/or if there are scheduling and space issues which would require us to make extensive accommodations to continue caring for your pet(s).
If you need to extend a booking that is already taking place, you must call, text, or email us as soon as you are aware that you will be needing an extension.
-
While not very common, we understand that there may be an occasion where you need to cancel a booking that is already taking place due to any number of reasons…
While we understand that there may be unfortunate circumstances tied to your needing to cancel a mid-booking, unfortunately because of the high demand for our services, we do not offer refunds for the booking, and would still require you paying the full amount of the booking on the day you cancel regardless of the number of unused days remaining.
Please note that if you requested a private Daycare or Boarding, you may also be charged an additional cancellation fee as that space which had be reserved for you barred us from caring for any other pets at the time.
-
When you book a service that requires us needing access to your home that requires keyed entry, and we have to drive out to you to pick up or return they keys. We consider this an additional service. For bookings over a certain amount or for our Silver or Golden Paws Membership Holders, this service charge is waived.
To eliminate this charge altogether you may opt to leave your keys on file with us, provide us with a set of keys during the Meet&Greet if applicable, or by leaving your keys in a lockbox on your property which we will be able to access.
Please Note
If you decide to leave your keys under a mat, your door unlocked with the keys inside, or hidden somewhere outside but unsecured. House of Pet is not responsible and you understand that you are fully liable for any and all risks to your residence, your pets, and the sitter, which may occur before our arrival and any and all risks to your residence or your pets after our departure.
New Member + Meet&Greets
-
Meet&Greets are a part of our interview and registration process for prospective new clients who wish to become members of the House of Pet family.
They are our way of getting to know you and your pets, to further insure that we are all a good fit for each other.
What happens at a Meet & Greet?
We will asses your pet(s) behaviors, habits, training level, mood & temperament.
We discuss your pet(s) needs, their play style, and go over what their schedule and routine looks like and how best House of Pet can accommodate for that.
We will discuss any issues they may have and how to handle them.
You will provide us with a copy of your pets vaccination records and proof of routine flea treatment (where applies)
For dog owners, we will all go on a short walk to asses how well leash/walk trained your dog(s) are.
For Traveling Services (i.e. House Sitting and Care Visits) you will show us where you store your pet’s food, dishes, treats, leashes & harnesses, & toys. Where they sleep, eat, and relieve themselves.
-
Depending on the type of pet and services requested, Meet&Greets usually last anywhere from 25 - 45 minutes.
-
Unfortunately not. Our process is very selective due the high quality of services we offer and the assurances of safety & quality we need to be able guarantee to all our members. So we use the registration and Meet&Greet process to ensure that we are all a good fit.
-

Yes. All pets in our care who are eligible for routine flea treatments are required to be on a flea treatment of some sort.
Please note: A flea bath is not a substitute for a preventative flea treatment. A flea bath is to rid your pet of existing fleas. Though we are aware that a small number of shampoo products exist that offer 7 day flea prevention, if this is something that was used, we require proof of receipt and date of use.
-
If you pets or your home is infested with fleas:
